NEXT CHAPTER MEETING JUNE 16th.

The Annapolis MSSA Chapter is pleased to announce that its June 16th speaker will be Mid-Atlantic and Chesapeake Bay fishing expert, author, and all around angling personality Lenny Rudow. Lenny will provide chapter members and guests with a primer on catching ultra big fish on ultra light tackle. Now that the summer season is here with scads of inshore and offshore fishing options for chapter members, Lenny will provide us with a dose of “let’s get out there and get ‘em!” Rudow is a freelance writer for several fishing and boating magazines, and is the author of Rudow’s Guide to Fishing the Chesapeake, among several other highly informative books. The Annapolis Chapter meets at 7:30 pm at American Legion Post #7 in Annapolis on Crownsville Road at Rt. 450.

JULY CHAPTER FISHING TRIP

We have 40 people signed up for the trip, but only money to cover 12people. Please send your checks in or be prepared to pay at the next meeting. I cannot book the third boat until a have a much larger financial commitment. This is a fun trip with your fellow Annapolis chapter members and their families. We get a fair amount of children (of all ages) and grandchildren. If you have never tried one of the trips this is a good year to try it out. Fishing out of Chesapeake Beach is a lot closer than Solomons Island. Chesapeake Beach (Rod and Reel) offers a restaurant if you want to come down early and have a late lunch or an early dinner. I would appreciate you sending your checks in as early as possible. Send your checks to Ronald Schaefer, 47 Poplar Point Road, Edgewater, MD 21037. Make the checks out ($60 per person) to Annapolis MSSA. If you have any questions or want to add your name to the list email me at mellowfive@comcast.net, or see me at May’s meeting. You can also give me a check at May’s meeting. Ron Schaefer Fishing Trip Chairman

About Us

The Annapolis Chapter is one of the largest and most active chapters in the MSSA. Our Members share a passion for Saltwater Fishing in both the Chesapeake Bay and the Bluewater found off the Delmarva Coast. In addition to fun and informative meetings, our members organize and participate in numerous events during the year. Here is a brief summary of our major events from 2005.

Annapolis Chapter 2005 In Review

March - The Annapolis Chapter of MSSA sponsored an Offshore Fishing Swap Meet as part of the Bluewater Partner Program. This event was created for recreational anglers who want to learn more about Bluewater Fishing off the Maryland & Virginia Coasts and for those who want to buy, sell or trade used and new offshore & bay fishing tackle. The 2006 Swap Meet will be held on Sunday March 12th and will move to a much larger facility at the Annapolis Elks Lodge 622. Special Thanks to our Swap Meet Chairman Rick Nadolny and the 400+ Attendees and Vendors at this year's event.

April - Annapolis Chapter members staff the Spring Tournament Captain's Meeting at Boater's World in Annapolis. This is the most popular of all the Captain's Meetings as the excitement builds for this major tournament that begins just 2 days later. This is followed by dozens of our chapter members fishing the Spring Tournament while sharing information amongst our captains on locations and lures that are catching the Trophy Rockfish. Special Thanks to our Tournament Committee Rep. Perry Masden.

Apr/May - Our Spring Intra-Chapter Tournament is yet another reason to fish often during the Spring Trophy Rockfish Season. This year, 28 chapter members signed up to fish for prize money, plaques and bragging rights. Top Prize was $490 of the $700 pool along with 5 plaques that were presented. Special Thanks to Coordinator: Bob Thompson.

June - The MSSA Tuna-Ment kicks off the offshore fishing season with a bang. Tunament Headquarters is based at Wachapreague Marina in VA. Once again, the Annapolis Chapter served as host of the festivities by holding a Cook Out while Boater's World supplied a magnificent set of door prizes for the contestants. And of course we had several of our top Offshore Crews fishing in this 3 day event. Special Thanks to Coordinator: Dale Dirks.

Jul/Aug - No meetings are scheduled for these mid-summer months so that our members can enjoy summer vacations and/or bay fishing and crabbing with their family & friends. However, this is when the Bluewater Offshore Fishing kicks into high gear. The MSSA Mar-Va Tournament is the most popular of many Offshore Events that are held each summer. And our Bluewater Captains are occasionally looking for an aspiring offshore angler to join them and fill out the crew while learning from some of the best recreational anglers in the Mid-Atlantic.

Sep - Our Annual Crab Feast was held on Sept. 18th at Sandy Point State Park. What a beautiful day by the Bay for a get together and 150+ members, families, and friends took advantage of the best deal in town to eat their fill of #1 crabs, corn, burgers, dogs and salads. Special Thanks to Coordinators: Pete Abbott, Bob Sheehan and Earl Macey.

October – Our Annual Inter-Chapter Tournament with Broadneck/Magothy River Chapter was held on Oct 22nd. Greg Bivens (Annapolis Chapter) won this year’s contest and thus the Annapolis Chapter retains friendly bragging rights once again. Greg retains a beautiful award along with a nice cash prize.

Dec – Our Annual Holiday Party was held on Dec 21st in lieu of our regular Chapter Meeting. Many of our members and their family attended and enjoyed the home cooked dishes and open bar at this great event. Santa made a surprise visit and to the delight of our membership, left behind a large sack of memorable “Gifts” for our Raffle Table. Special Thanks to Coordinators: Pete Abbott, Bob Sheehan and Scott Yeager.
