REMINDER: NO CHAPTER MEETING IN AUGUST
17th ANNUAL MAR-VA OFFSHORE TOURNAMENT AUG 22-24
The MSSA MAR-VA OFFSHORE TOURNAMENT is coming soon to a Seaside Port near you. Weigh Stations will be located in Ocean City MD, Chincoteague, and Wachapreague VA. This is a small but exciting tournament that offers both the beginner and experienced Offshore Angler numerous ways to win cash and prizes. Trolling and Chunking are permitted which expands the techniques available to participating anglers. Tournament Rules and an entry form can be found at the MSSA Main Website (www.mssa.net) and in the 2008 Tournament Brochure.
The MSSA also operates a Bluewater Partner Program to assist newcomers to Offshore Fishing. This program links you up with a Captain(s) who can provide Mentoring and a Buddy System while participating in the Tournament. Please contact Pete Abbott or Kevin McMenamin if you want more information on this program.
Please note that the Marlin Category has been eliminated from this Tournament based on regulation changes from NMFS that would require circle hook useage on all natural baits.
DEALE PRO-AM TOURNAMENT SEPT 6-7
The Deale Captains Association is running its first Pro-Am Fishing tournament on Sept. 6-7, 2008. A highlight of the tournament will be the participation of some 15 war heroes from Walter Reed Army Hospital, recuperating from war injuries.
Top winners will be the four largest rockfish, plus the largest bluefish and the largest Spanish Mackerel. There is also a kids division sponsored by West Marine. The cost is only $150 for both days. For more information or to enter, go to the web site www.dealeproam.com or call Capt. Kerry Muse, 1-800-381-2727, or enter at Deale Marina, 484 Deale Rd., Deale, Md. The official check-in station is Deale Marina on Rockhold Creek, which will be open to weigh and measure fish on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 6-7, 2008 from 1 pm to 3:30 pm. A complete copy of the rules is available on the web site.
The MSSA is working to provide a unified voice to preserve and protect the rights, traditions and the future of recreational saltwater fishing in Maryland. If you are a Saltwater Fisherman, then you should be a Member of the MSSA. And if you live, work or fish in the greater Annapolis Area, we invite you to join the Annapolis Chapter.
The Annapolis Chapter is one of the largest and most active chapters in the MSSA. Our Members share a passion for Saltwater Fishing in both the Chesapeake Bay and the Bluewater found off the Delmarva Coast. In addition to fun and informative meetings, our members organize and participate in numerous tournaments and events during the year.
Please join us to expand your knowledge of Bay & Offshore Fishing and to extend your Fishing Buddy Network to know where and how the big fish are being caught.
Welcome Aboard!
