Speaker: Dick Franyo - Boatyard Bar & Grill
Please join the Annapolis Chapter of the MSSA on Wednesday, March 10th at 7:30 pm at American Legion Post 7, Rt. 450 and Crownsville Road in Annapolis. The speaker for the March 10th chapter meeting will be Dick Franyo, owner of the Boatyard Bar and Grill in Eastport. The Boatyard Bar and Grill sponsors the annual opening day catch and release rockfish tournament. The tournament has become an important ritual for Chesapeake Bay anglers, and for many, signifies the start of the Maryland trophy rockfish season. Dick has been at the forefront of conservation efforts in the Bay, and has shown that tournaments with a catch and release format can be fun, competitive, and meaningful. During his talk, Dick will cover:
-Information about the upcoming Boatyard Bar and Grill opening day rockfish tournament.
-His thoughts and views regarding bay conservation and good stewardship of our fisheries and natural resources.
-Fun and interesting stories about his experience as a Maryland fisherman, conservationist, and tournament sponsor.
2010 SALTWATER FISHING EXPO
The SALTWATER FISHING EXPO was held on Saturday Feb. 27th from 8 AM to 3 PM at the Annapolis Elks Lodge. We would like to thank all of the Chapter Members who attended or purchased Raffle Tickets, their Friends, MSSA Members from around the region, and everyone else who attended this year’s Expo. Thanks to you, the 2010 Expo was yet another big success for our Vendors, Our Speakers, and the MSSA Annapolis Chapter. See you next year at the 2011 Expo.
UPCOMING MSSA FISHING SHOWS
The Essex-Middle River Chapter Annual Fishing Flea Market is scheduled for March 20-21 @ Commodore Hall 1909 Old Eastern Ave Essex MD 21221. Hours are 9-4 on Saturday and 9-2 on Sunday and admission is $3. This event has a lot of individual anglers who are selling their under utilized tackle and gear along with plenty of quality new merchandise. Call Frank Holden at 410-686-2348 for more information.
The Southern MD Chapter will host the Annual Fishing Fair on March 27-28 @ Solomons Fire Hall. Hours are 8-3 both days and admission is $2. This is the only fishing show in the Southern Maryland region and will give all the opportunity to purchase rods, reels, baits, fishing accessories, as well as other fishing related products. DENISE LACEY CANCER FUND
Denise Lacey is the oldest daughter of Scott Yeager who is a former President of the Annapolis Chapter. Denise has been diagnosed with a rare form of Breast Cancer at the the young age of 32.
